She finished first in the 800 metres at the Basingstoke and Mid Hants Junior Open, before the next day winning the same distance race at the Hercules Wimbledon Young Athletes Open at Crystal Palace National Stadium.
Gothard’s sister, Gemma, also travelled to compete in the under-17 age-group, a year young – she achieved a personal best in the 300m and came fourth in the 800m on Saturday, before finishing fifth in the 800m on Sunday.
