The Islanders beat Plymouth Albion by 19-15, to bring them five points clear of Doncaster, who are bottom of the table, and boost their chances of survival in the division.

But, Jersey certainly did not have the game all their own way. Leading 5-3 at half-time, the Island side put on the pressure early in the second half with two tries in quick succession from Nicky Griffiths, both successfully converted by Michael Le Bourgeois.

Plymouth Albion came back fighting and two Plymouth tries later and a score of 19-15 to Jersey, Island fans were left with an anxious final ten minutes.

Jersey managed to cling on to their lead, though, and were able to celebrate their first away win in the Championship.

The game was marred by injury, with two Jersey players taken off the pitch, and more than 20 minutes of stoppage time added to the first half and ten minutes to the second.

Meanwhile, Rotherham beat bottom of the table Doncaster, 25-19, to boost Jersey’s chances of staying in the division.
