The 18-year-old not only smashed his personal best with an 800 metres effort of 1.51.95 minutes on Wednesday night, but also broke a 28-year-old Jersey Spartan club age group record along the way.
Dorey’s record breaking performance came in the Saucony Hampshire Grand Prix in Basingstoke where he improved on Mike Guegan’s previous best of 1.52.10 min.
The time is also believed to be an Island U20 record, although it is not possible to certify as only school level and senior records are maintained.
