The St Paul’s player will start at left back for Jersey’s semi-final against Guernsey in the International Challenge Tournament in Gibraltar tomorrow afternoon.
Culkin said: ‘Jay deserves his chance, he has worked extremely hard and his fitness is really good. He’s a good listener and he wants to be coached.
‘He is four or five years ahead of his time and I don’t think it will be long before he is pushing Jack Cannon for a regular place in the Island team. He is certainly a player for the future. He has been exposed to first team football last season for the first time and he has coped very well. He has played big games for his club and myself and the other players in the squad hold no fears for him’.
