Thompson, an A-level psychology teacher at Beaulieu School, scored 293 out of a possible 300 points to take the title, after a closely contested competition fired over successive weekends. In second place, just one point behind was Chris Cotillard.
‘I heard that 292 was the top score and I realised that I had just done it but couldn’t quite believe it. It was a bit of a surprise,’ she said.
It is a particularly encouraging result for Thompson who will join the Jersey squad at Bisley for the British Open in July after taking several years off competing abroad.
