With the event taking place in Bermuda in 2013, the costs are significant and expected to hit the £2,000 per player mark.
As a result the Jersey Basketball Association have confirmed that they would not be represented at the next NatWest Island Games.
Rob Honey, outgoing JBBA president, said: ‘We are not going to be sending a team. The primary reason is one based on the ongoing uncertainty of sponsorship and fund raising.’
