With big ideas and ambitious development plans, including building a BMX track and an indoor vélodrome, the popular Island sport could look very different by the time Jersey hosts the 2015 Island Games.
New at the helm is Martin Hebden, a former president of the Commonwealth Games Association of Jersey and founder member of Vélo Sport Jersey.
Enticed back into an administrative role with the Jersey Cycling Association last year he has now taken up the presidency and it could not be at a more exciting time.
Although the indoor vélodrome is more of a long-term goal, there are short-term objectives that will shift the sport up a gear.
Some of the aims of the association, who hope to be an effective governing body for the sport in the Island, include the creation of a brand new performance plan plus employing a development officer, performance director or highly qualified coach within a year.
