Joy as bowls duo reach KO stages

It was almost taken for granted that his Jersey team-mate Karina Bisson would qualify for the knockout stage in the women’s event, and she was sure of making the frame by the time it came for her to take her bye in the last group session yesterday morning.

‘It was a bit disappointing to lose to New Zealand’s Jo Edwards in my last group game, but I was pleased with the way I played,’ said Bisson. ‘It was just that Jo often seemed able to turn things round with pressure bowls.’

Ironically, Bisson, who finished second in the group, behind Edwards, has been drawn to play her friend and rival, Alison Merrien, from Guernsey, in Saturday’s play-off for a place in the semi finals.
