Jersey’s U17s turned in an excellent display, winning 8-1 at Foote’s Lane, with Jamie Mourant on the right flank cutting Guernsey to pieces time and time again.
It was sweet revenge for a 3-2 defeat last year and Jersey were ahead inside 15 minutes when Robert Cuming struck a wonderful reverse stick shot into the goal after Mourant pulled the ball back to him following a great driving run.
Jersey’s coach Richard Le Lièvre said: ‘The team played incredibly well and as coach it was pleasing to see everyone play to their full potential.
‘We competed and pressed hard when we did not have the ball and kept it after we had won it. It was a great team performance and certainly one for the boys to remember.’
