Deputy Sam Mézec, who has been working on the plans for a number of weeks, yesterday formally lodged the proposals with the States.

The polls for the by-elections in St Helier No 1 and 2 districts are open between 8 am and 8 pm and the results will be announched after votes have been counted.

Reform Jersey, the pressure group behind last week’s successful by-election candidates Sam Mézec and Nick Le Cornu, is currently recruiting left-leaning, reformist candidates to stand in October’s general election.

The first meeting, for voters in St Helier No 2, is on Wednesday 19 February, and that for voters in No 1 will take place on Tuesday 25 February. Both are being held at the Town Hall at 7.30 pm.
