Nine candidates have been nominated to fill two seats which fell vacant following the disqualification from the States of Trevor and Shona Pitman, who were barred from public office for five years after being declared bankrupt.

The five candidates in No 1 are former Emeraude director Gordon Forrest, former Deputy Paul Le Claire, political campaigner Nick Le Cornu, IT specialist Maureen Morgan and mechanic Roy Travert.

The four in No 2 are former St Helier Greffier Ian Philpott, events manager and DJ Bernie Manning, Centenier Paul Huelin and political reform campaigner Sam Mézec.

The by-elections will be held on Wednesday 5 March and the successful candidates will serve out the remainder of the current political term until October, when the next general election takes place.
