a was nominated as a candidate for St Helier No 2 District, joining the three others who had declared previously and were also formerly proposed this evening. They are Centenier Paul Huelin, events manager and DJ Bernie Manning and political reform campaigner Sam Mézec.
Five candidates were nominated for St Helier No 1 and are, as previously declared, former Emeraude Lines director Gordon Forrest, former Deputy and Senator Paul Le Claire, political reform campaigner Nick Le Cornu, IT specialist Maureen Morgan and mechanic Roy Travert.
Their names were also put forward at the nomination meeting held at the Town Hall. Gino Risoli made an unsuccessful attempt to be nominated – he was disqualified from doing so by the chairman.
The by-elections will be held on Wednesday 5 March and follow the disqualification from the States of Trevor and Shona Pitman, who were barred from public office for five years after being declared bankrupt.
Their replacements will serve out the remainder of the current political term until October, when the next general election takes place.
