A LOCAL football team has been nominated for the Volunteer/Fundraiser of the Year award for their “incredible efforts” in organising a charity football match in support of Amelia Seren.
Amelia has a rare PAX 6 genetic mutation, leaving her with severe visual impairment.
The St Brelade Over-35s team raised nearly £11,000 towards helping Amelia achieve the possibility of receiving intensive physiotherapy at a specialist therapy centre in London.
Amelia’s mother, Vicky Evans, who has nominated the team for the award, said “this dream became a reality” due to the “time, effort and dedication” that went into organising a “remarkable” charity match, where the support from players, volunteers and spectators left Amelie’s family “overwhelmed”.
“They haven’t just raised money; they have given our family hope and helped open doors for Amelia’s future,” Ms Evans said. “Their kindness and community spirit will have a lasting impact on Amelia’s life, and we cannot thank them enough for helping her on her journey towards greater independence.”
