A GRANDFATHER who managed to find the strength to hold his family together while “in the midst of unimaginable heartbreak” has been nominated for Grandparent of the Year.
John Noel unexpectedly lost his wife and “soulmate” earlier this year, according to his daughter and nominator Sophia Sheldon.
She explained that when the family lost “the most wonderful mum and nanny”, Mr Noel put everyone else first despite his own grief.
Mrs Sheldon said her father “goes above and beyond every day” by picking up his grandchildren from school and nursery, always being available to babysit and filling their days with “fun, laughter and adventure”.
“He’s been our rock,” she explained. “Whether he’s playing games, reading stories or simply spending quality time with his grandchildren, he has a remarkable way of making their world feel magical, even during the hardest time of our lives.”
Mrs Sheldon said Mr Noel is deserving of the award because he is “the best grandfather and father we could ask for”.
