A TELECOMS manager has admitted assaulting a female child in St Helier on New Year’s Day 2026.
According to the defendant’s LinkedIn profile, he has been working as an account manager for a telecommunications company since October 2015.
James Long (42) initially denied the offence, with a trial scheduled to take place, but appeared in the Magistrate’s Court recently to amend his plea to guilty.
Crown Advocate Kerry Grieve, prosecuting, said that the court will “likely” require a pre-sentence report ahead of sentencing as the offence involved “an assault on a child”.
She told the court that the prosecution are intending to obtain a victim personal statement from the female child victim – who was not Mr Long’s, and more information “as to whether a restraining order is requested”.
Relief Magistrate David Le Cornu, presiding, ordered the pre-sentence report before adjourning the sentencing date to 9 October.
He released Long on bail with conditions to remain at his residence and to have no contact with the victim.
