Sainsbury’s trials Jersey Sleep Well drink

The Jersey-based company has been invited to supply its vanilla and chocolate flavoured milk to more than 100 Sainsbury’s stores across the country. Once the four-month trial is over the Sleep Well team will find out if their new bedtime drink is going to be listed nationally.

Sleep Well launched its milk drink, which aims to help people relax and get a better night’s sleep, in September 2017 and has seen sales increase both online and in independent speciality food stores in the UK. The Sainsbury’s opportunity is one of a number of developments in domestic and export markets currently being negotiated by the business.

Sam Watts, co-founder of Sleep Well Milk said: ‘The Sainsbury’s trial is a key pillar of our growth plan. We are doing well in the independent sector and through our relationship with wholesale partner Cotswold Fayre are in final negotiations with a major international hotel chain and two airlines.

‘We are also exploring a significant opportunity in mainland China. If we are successful in the trial, rolling out the product across UK high streets with Sainsbury’s will enable us to significantly scale up production and take the business to a new level.’
