A DEDICATED 77-year-old supporter of Sanctuary Trust has taken to the skies for an incredible challenge of a lifetime.
Eddie Culkin took an enormous leap out of a plane for a charity skydive last Friday – raising more than £1,000 in the process.
Sanctuary Trust provides accommodation and tailored support for men in Jersey who are experiencing or at risk of homelessness. It provides accommodation for up to 30 residents across their three houses, alongside outreach and counselling services.
Since opening in 2011, the Sanctuary Trust has supported more than 400 men to move on into more stable housing, employment, and independence.
The charity organises an annual Sleep Out, which is taking place on 13 November 2026, with the aim of raising awareness of homelessness in Jersey, as well as vital funds for the charity.
Mr Culkin said: “It’s not about me; it’s all just about the charity.
“I am doing it for the people that Sanctuary Trust supports – a lot needs to be done for the people who are less fortunate than myself.”
Mr Culkin said that ahead of his skydive he was not at all nervous as he would “fly with God”.
“A skydive has been something I have thought about for a little while. I have been supporting the charity for roughly three years, through charity sleepovers, volunteer work, cleaning litter,” Mr Culkin said.
“I give a couple of hours a week to them, but my volunteer work also helps me focus my own time and do some good.”
Sanctuary Trust chief executive Sarah Tumelty, said: “Eddie has been a loyal supporter of Sanctuary Trust for many years, and we’re incredibly touched that he has chosen to take on this challenge in support of the charity.”

Mr Culkin landed at The Gunsite Beach at approximately 5.00pm on Friday evening.
