ROUGE Bouillon has reopened to traffic after government teams completed emergency works to make a dangerous retaining wall safe ahead of schedule.

The government stepped in after the owners of the wall failed to complete remedial works required under a Dangerous Building Notice.

The road had until now been subject to temporary traffic lights, lane closures and footpath restrictions for several weeks, causing lengthy tailbacks and frustration for motorists.

“Thank you to our teams who worked so hard to get this open asap and ahead of schedule,” Infrastructure and Environment officials said on Saturday.

“We understand the inconvenience this has caused and thank Islanders for their patience,” they added.
