MORE frequent flights will be available on Aer Lingus Regional’s service between Jersey and Dublin for this summer.
Capacity on the service has been doubled to four flights a week until 26 September.
Aer Lingus Regional has stated that the change “comes in direct response to market demand” and will “backfill most of the historic capacity no longer operated by Blue Islands”.
The latter airline, which collapsed in November, had previously also served the Dublin route from Jersey.
Ian Lough, head of commercial at Emerald Airlines – which operates as the exclusive carrier of the Aer Lingus Regional network – said: “We are delighted to be expanding our Jersey-Dublin services this summer.”
He continued: “This is the largest schedule we have ever operated on the route and reflects our commitment to supporting connectivity for Jersey customers.
“Following changes in the market, we are pleased to be able to step in and restore much of the capacity previously available, while also offering additional flexibility with new Monday and Friday departures.”
Paul Holley, head of connectivity at Ports of Jersey, said the increased frequency provided “greater choice and convenience for Islanders”.
He added: “Operating up to four flights per week also supports inbound tourism, with the increased frequency making it even easier for visitors to enjoy short breaks, while providing flexibility for longer stays in Jersey.”
