MORE flights to and from Jersey have been cancelled this morning as airlines continue to deal with the knock-on effects of yesterday’s major UK air traffic control failure.
The 7.05am British Airways service from Jersey to Heathrow was among those cancelled, after eight Loganair flights and an easyJet service were axed yesterday.
At the time of writing, BA’s 10.35 Heathrow-bound departure and an easyJet flight to Luton at 16:35 are also cancelled.
More than 1,000 flights were cancelled across the UK on Tuesday, leaving hundreds of thousands of passengers stranded. Although flights have resumed, airports have warned of further disruption as aircraft and crews are moved back into position.
In Jersey, hotels were called upon at short notice last night to find rooms for stranded passengers despite occupancy across the Island already being “extremely high”.
The Jersey Hospitality Association thanked accommodation providers and Ports of Jersey for working together to ensure those unexpectedly stuck in the Island had somewhere to stay.
Passengers travelling today are advised to check the latest information with their airline before heading to the airport.
