THE first flight in Loganair’s new direct service between the Island and Paris took off on Sunday as the airline continues to expand its Jersey operations.
The seasonal route, which will operate on Sundays, Tuesdays and Thursdays, marks the first time in the Scottish carrier’s history that it has flown to France.
Chief commercial officer Ronnie Matheson said it was “a very proud day for all the team”.
He added: “Our continued investment and growth across the Channel Islands is significant, and Paris-Charles de Gaulle is the third of four new summer destinations that have launched from Jersey over the last few weeks, further strengthening connectivity for the Channel Islands.”
Loganair’s East Midlands service also began on Sunday, following the launch of a Norwich route earlier in the month. Flights to Bordeaux are set to launch on 19 June.
Paul Holley, head of connectivity at Ports of Jersey said: “With Paris now commenced and as we look forward to Bordeaux starting shortly, we’re excited to see Loganair adding two new French routes for this summer.”
Mr Holley contended that the direct services “provide excellent connectivity for Islanders” while also representing “an opportunity for Jersey to reach new markets”.
