AN issue with Brittany Ferries’ online booking system caused by fire at a data centre near Amsterdam last week has been resolved.
The ferry operator had made customers aware of the problem following the blaze at the NorthC Data centre in Almere on 7 May.
A post on the Guernsey section of the Brittany Ferries website explained that it had been left unable to access its reservations system, which meant customers could not make or amend bookings online or through its contact centre.
A spokesperson for the company yesterday confirmed the system was back up and running.
“This has been an irritating blip in an otherwise excellent relationship between Brittany Ferries and Guernsey,” they said.
“We deeply regret the inconvenience, which was caused by fire at a data centre used by our reservations supplier Carus.”
Commenting on the estimated cost of the incident, the spokesperson said that “the impact is low”.
“The reality is that freight was unaffected, passengers with existing reservations were unaffected and customers intending to book in the next few weeks and months can now do so,” they continued.
“Nevertheless, we apologise to everyone for the inconvenience, particularly those whose immediate travel plans were impacted by this regrettable incident.”
