CHARITIES are being invited to apply for grants from a fund established with money from dormant bank accounts.
The Jersey Reclaim Fund was established in 2017 using funds from accounts where there had been no account with the customer for at least 15 years.
In October 2024, the government confirmed that it would make a minimum of £4.5 million available from 2025 to 2027, ensuring that charities would be better able to plan ahead across the three-year period.
With £1.5m available to cover 2026, applications have been invited by the Jersey Community Foundation, which oversees the grants process.
The foundation’s chief executive Anna Terry said: “We’re delighted to be working in partnership with the government again this year.
“In 2025, we awarded over £1.8 million from dormant funds to support charities and community organisations across the Island, and we’ve seen first-hand the difference this funding can make.”
External Relations Minister Ian Gorst said: “Our charitable and voluntary organisations are facing an exceptionally difficult time, with growing demand for their services and increasing financial pressures, yet their contribution to Island life has never been more important.
“I want to express my gratitude to Jersey’s financial institutions for their continued collaboration with the Fund.”
