A PRIMARY school student has created a ‘joyful’ fundraising event for Jersey Hospice Care after in memory of her beloved grandad.

Nine-year-old Isla Lappage came up with the ‘Dancing in to the Light of Love’ event as a way to celebrate the sense of togetherness felt after losing a loved one.

Her vision was to create an afternoon of dancing, glitter, yoga, and kindness as well as a space where people could feel happy again while remembering those they have lost.

After telling her mum, Abigail, about her idea, her mum spoke to Eve Studios to help bring the event together.

Eve Studios has worked alongside Jersey Hospice Care to plan the community event, which will take place at the Jersey Hospice Day Centre on Mont Cochon, tomorrow between 2pm and 5pm.

On the afternoon, participants can choose from three 45-minute sessions – Glow & Groove, Zumba vibes and Power and Peace Yoga. There will also be a raffle and a selection of creative activities including face painting and a colouring station

Each class will be £10 entry and all proceeds will go directly to Jersey Hospice Care.

Isla said: “I wanted to do something happy after my grandad died. I thought dancing and yoga and glitter would help people feel love again, even if they feel sad inside.”

Trudi Roscouet, founder of Eve Studios, said: “When Abigail told us about Isla’s idea, we were completely moved. This is a child who has experienced loss but wants to help others feel light again — that’s incredibly powerful.

“Eve is all about women and girls supporting each other, and we’re honoured to help Isla create something so special for Hospice.”

The event will be open for girls and women of all ages. Classes are focused on girls aged six and above.
