COLLAPSED airline Blue Islands has been ordered to pay more than £17,000 to one of its former pilots.

Mark Chadwick worked as an airline captain for the company until it went into liquidation on 17 November 2025.

As a condition of his employment with the airline, Mr Chadwick had to pay a training bond of £20,000. The money was due to be repaid to him in monthly increments by Blue Islands over the course of three years.

The Employment and Discrimination Tribunal heard that Mr Chadwick had only received five of these payments when the airline went bust, leaving an outstanding balance of £17,225.

The claim was undefended by Blue Islands, so tribunal chair Dr Elena Moran handed down a judgment in default.

The Jersey-based airline ceased trading at the end of last year whilst owing £9.1m to the government and almost £3.3m to the Ports of Jersey.
