ELEVEN local church groups are set to host the first of two free Christmas events to celebrate the “true meaning of Christmas” in the Royal Square tonight.

The groups have organised the return of ‘Step into Christmas’, which will include a carol service and an all-day Christmas fayre.

A family-friendly carol service will take place on Thursday from 6.30pm to 8.30pm to align with late-night shopping in town. All songs will be accompanied by a live band.

Then, on Saturday 20 December, the ‘Step Into Christmas Village’ will offer festive activities, as well as hot drinks and snacks free of charge to members of the public from 10.30am to 5pm.

Ahead of the occasion, organiser and Lighthouse Church pastor Gregg Donaldson said: “Jersey is hungry for a big community event that celebrates the true meaning of Christmas, and it’s our privilege to facilitate this.

“Christmas is the perfect time to join together as a community of churches, to
spread joy and hope to the whole Island.”

More information and detailed timings can be found on the event’s Facebook page.
