SURFERS could get “quick, budget-friendly, healthy meals” after their sessions, if plans for a new food truck are approved.

A planning application for a mobile food trailer, which would be next to The White Hut, was published last week. The site hosts Laneez Surf School, which offers sessions to children, adults and groups. They currently offer “basic snacks and hot drinks”.

“Currently, there are limited nearby options for those seeking quick, budget-friendly, healthy meals,” surf school owner Grace Donaldson said in the application.

“By introducing a food trailer, we can meet this demand while aligning with the active, wellness‑focused lifestyle that surfing represents.”

The mobile truck would offer “wholesome meals”, she added, and would be easy to move without permanently affecting the land.

The food truck site would be no larger than 5 metres by 2.2 metres. Customers could use seating that already exists.

“This proposal provides a convenient food option for locals and tourists, creates a small‑scale business opportunity and potential local employment and enhances the surf school’s appeal and customer satisfaction,” the applicants added.
