A CANINE casualty was rescued by lifeguards after getting swept out to sea in St Ouen’s Bay.
The incident happened at around 6pm on Friday, with RNLI lifeguards called out by Jersey Coastguard following reports about the eight-year-old dog, named Luna, which had got into difficulty in the water at La Pulente and could not make it back to shore against the current.
In a social media post, the RNLI stated that a lifeguard named Anders had paddled out to the stricken dog about 100 metres offshore and helped “shepherd” it back to the beach, where the owner was waiting.
