JERSEY’S new ferry operator has declined to make a comment on rumours that it has bought the island’s former freight vessel Commodore Goodwill from Condor.
DFDS told the JEP that it will “not be taking the opportunity to respond” to rumours circulating online that the Danish shipping giant had acquired the vessel which was put up for sale in February with a €14,000,000 price tag.

It comes as Facebook-based forums claimed that unconfirmed reports suggested that DFDS had bought the Goodwill from Condor to facilitate its Portsmouth to Jersey freight service.
No official announcement from either operator has yet been released to quash or confirm the purchase rumours.
Since 1996, Condor’s Commodore Goodwill had been serving the Channel Islands as its main freight carrier until DFDS took over as Jersey’s main ferry operator last month.
The sale listing came as Condor, owned by parent company Brittany Ferries, looked to sell off its fleet after the inter-island ferry debacle.
The 29-year-old 126m vessel joined the Commodore Clipper and Condor Liberation on the market, after the firm’s Channel Island service prepared to solely serve Guernsey.
Rumours had also been circulating that over 30 jobs at Condor’s Poole headquarters were being cut.
