VISIT Jersey has said it hopes DFDS will be able to deliver “a smooth and efficient service” despite initial disruption that “has impacted visitors, Islanders, and local hospitality businesses”.

The organisation’s comments come after the Danish shipping firm faced setbacks immediately after starting its Jersey operations at the end of last month.

This has included technical issues with Tarifa Jet, one of its fast ferries, which led to schedule changes and the cancellation of some sailings.

The vessel is expected to enter service this week.

A Visit Jersey spokesperson said: “We are, of course, disappointed by the recent disruption, which has impacted visitors, Islanders, and local hospitality businesses.

“Connectivity is essential to our Island’s visitor economy, and this is not the start anyone had hoped for, including DFDS.”

They continued: “We understand that DFDS is working to minimize disruption and to support those affected by the changes.

“Moving forward, we hope visitors and Islanders can expect a smooth and efficient service.”
