DAY return trips to St Malo priced from £29 for a foot passenger or £69 for a car and driver are being offered by DFDS.
The Danish operator, which starts its new contract for services to and from Jersey on Friday, has moved to bring in discounted fares and also amended its timetable.
Standard fares in place since bookings were opened earlier this year have now been replaced with the discount offer, which sees fares as low as £29 for a foot passenger and £69 for a car and one adult.
Those who have already made bookings and paid the standard fare will be contacted by DFDS and given a refund for the fare difference.
Chris Parker, Jersey route director, said: “We continually listen to our customers, stakeholders and key tourist groups, and adapt our services to meet their needs. By increasing the number of day trips on this popular route, we’re creating more opportunities for people to enjoy the unique experiences that St Malo has to offer.”
Mr Parker said the company has expanded the number of day trip sailings, and increased the length of time passengers can spend in St Malo. The aim was to cater to leisure travellers seeking a convenient getaway without the need for overnight arrangements, he added.
Following online feedback from Islanders regarding difficulty in obtaining the reduced fares, a spokesperson for DFDS said it was anticipated that bookings could be made at the new rates with effect from tomorrow [Thursday 27 March].
The final Condor Ferries services prior to the end of the existing contract are set to be provided by Condor Islander tomorrow. The vessel is timed to arrive in St Helier from Portsmouth at 5.05pm, setting off for the return overnight crossing at 7.05pm.
