PUPILS from four Jersey primary schools had a memorable experience when a humpback whale came alongside their boat during a day-trip to Sark yesterday.
Children from D’Auvergne, La Moye, St Lawrence and St John’s School were aboard a Manche Iles ferry when the marine spectacular took place around halfway through the return crossing to St Helier.
Having already spent time observing a pod of dolphins on their way to Sark in the morning, the children and teachers enjoyed a 15-minute display from the whale, which came to the surface and breached on multiple occasions.
