A JETSKI had to be towed back to the shore by an RNLI lifeboat on Easter weekend – with the help of a fishing boat – after a mechanical failure.

The RNLI’s St Catherine inshore lifeboat was called on the morning of Saturday 30 March, just before 9.15am, after the Coastguard raised the alarm.

The lifeboat found the jetski being helped by a fishing boat. The person was safe and well, the organisation said, and the jetski was towed back to Bonne Nuit.

The RNLI reminded watersports enthusiasts to make sure their equipment is in order.

They said: “As the weather begins to improve, it’s essential to dedicate time to complete a pre-season checklist.

“Ensure that all required safety equipment is on board and that you have a reliable means of calling for help, preferably a VHF radio.”
