Masked man attacks St Helier shop

POLICE have appealed for information after a masked man attempted to rob a convenience store in St Helier.

The would-be robber entered Morrisons Daily on Queen’s Road on Friday evening, threatening the cashiers and a customer before fleeing empty-handed after the alarm was raised.

The suspect was last seen by the junction of Queen’s Road and St. John’s Road.

Appealing for witnesses, the police described the man they were seeking as being between 5ft 10ins and 6ft tall, and of slim build. He was wearing a black balaclava/ski mask, a black long-sleeved top with grey patterned/camouflage arms, grey camouflaged trousers, brown boots and black gloves, and was carrying a white plastic bag.

Officers are looking for anyone who may have been in the area between 6.30pm and 7pm on Friday, including drivers on Queen’s Road or the surrounding area who might have dash-cam footage. Those who may recognise the man by the clothing or any other distinguishing characteristic are also asked to come forward.
