PLANS for a one-bedroom flat within the roof of St Brelade’s Parish Hall have been given the go-ahead.

Planning officers have approved an application to develop the roof area of the parish hall in St Aubin, which has been boarded up and unused for many years.

The idea to develop the flat was first aired in late 2021, when parishioners backed a proposal by St Brelade Constable Mike Jackson to invest £20,000 in progressing the project.

Mr Jackson said at the time that the project would provide an income stream for the parish in what he described as ‘a superb position’ in the heart of St Aubin.

The initial investment by the parish covered ecological surveys, working with Planning and other statutory authorities prior to submitting the planning application in January of this year.

Plans for the second-floor apartment, drawn up by Riva Architects, include four dormer windows and two rooflights.
