ISLAND teenager Luke Harris took a giant leap towards footballing stardom on Wednesday morning, when he was named in Wales’s senior men’s squad for their upcoming Nations League fixtures against Belgium and Poland.

The 17-year-old, who made his first-team debut for Fulham last month, has been included in a 28-man squad which features the likes of Gareth Bale, Dan James and Ben Davies. Wales manager Robert Page has described Harris as ‘an absolute talent’, and could offer the former Jersey FA Centre of Excellence prodigy an opportunity to stake his claim for a spot on the plane to the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.

With Aaron Ramsay ruled out through injury, the door may well be open for a player who could be a long-term replacement for the former Arsenal and Juventus midfielder.

Harris scored a Premier League 2 hat-trick against a Chelsea side featuring Ben Chilwell, Ethan Ampadu and Trevoh Chalobah last month.

Wales travel to Belgium on 22 September, before ending their Nations League campaign at Cardiff City Stadium three days later, against Poland.
