PLANS are in place to refurbish the changing rooms and build a new café at Les Quennevais sports centre.
A tender has gone out to invite construction firms to apply for the building contract for the project.
Firms have until 14 September to show an interest in applying for the works.
The café at the sports centre closed in December 2020 and did not re-open following the second Covid-19 lockdown in the Island.
A government spokesperson said: ‘The grab-and-go coffee bar will be on the ground floor serving coffee, juices and healthy food.
‘In the changing room there will be a full refurbishment including creation of a drain gulley, new cubicles, bench seating and lockers.’
Once a contractor has been chosen the works are expected to take between four and six weeks to complete.
The government spokesperson said there will be some building noise.
They were unable to say how much the project would cost.
‘This is commercially sensitive at this time, as we are going through the tender process,’ the spokesperson added.
