ARCHAEOLOGISTS digging at La Cotte de St Brelade have discovered their first flint artefact of the current dig, which began earlier this month following a break on site since 2019 because of the pandemic.

While digging through into the north ravine, the archaeologists, whose presence on site is being supported by engineers from Geomarine, discovered a flint artefact with notches.

Letty Ingrey from University College London described it in a social-media post as ‘quite an exciting find’.

The shaped tool, discovered during the second week of the dig, has yet to be dated but is thought to be one of the younger finds at the site.
