A ROYAL Navy ship will arrive in Jersey this week as part of the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations.

HMS Brocklesby, a hunt-class mine countermeasure vessel, will be open for the public to view alongside the Victoria Pier on Saturday (4 June) between 10am to 12.15pm and 1.15pm to 4.15pm.

Tickets are free and can be booked in advance online via the Eventbrite website by searching for HMS Brocklesby Ship Tour.

The 60-metre, 685-tonne ship has a top speed of 17 knots and is primarily used to detect and destroy enemy mines but also takes part in offshore patrols, humanitarian support and disaster-relief efforts.

A Ports of Jersey spokesperson said: ‘Jersey continues to enjoy an excellent relationship with the Royal Navy and it is wonderful that at this special time of year, when we are celebrating the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee, that we can welcome HMS Brocklesby to our waters. We are also grateful to the captain and crew for providing members of the public the opportunity to step on board on Saturday.’
