The States police said they were aware of ‘heavy flooding’ in various areas, including Mont les Vaux, L’Avenue de la Reine Elizabeth II, Rue des Mans and at Beaumont.

Writing on Facebook, the force added: ‘Please take care whilst driving on the roads as the conditions are hazardous at this time.’

The Jersey Met Office had earlier issued an orange thunderstorm warning.

Meanwhile, temperatures during Thursday hit a scorching 32.7°C – fractionally short of being the hottest ever June day.

The temperature on the hottest June 25th on record was 32.9°C and the hottest ever June day was 33°C.
