Crews from the St Catherine Lifeboat have been dispatched to search around Bouley Bay and Bonne Nuit after receiving reports from a member of public that they had spotted debris in the area.
The vessel went out at around 10.30am but it is since been confirmed as a ‘fishing crate’ and is not related to the missing aircraft.
Mr Sala has been missing since Monday night when the plane he was travelling on from Nantes to Cardiff disappeared over the English Channel. The new Cardiff City signing was one of two people on board.
Guernsey Police said this morning that island authorities were conducting the search for the missing plane based on four possibilities – that they landed elsewhere but had not yet made contact, they landed on water and have been picked up by a passing ship but have not yet made contact, they landed on water and made it into the life raft that was known to have been onboard or that the aircraft broke up on contact with the water, leaving them in the sea.
