No re-count in Senatorial election

Deputy Mézec pipped Ms Scott to eighth place in the Senatorial elections last night.

Ms Scott, who was in the top eight for most of the night, could have asked for a recount as the number of votes between her and Deputy Mézec was less than one per cent of the total electorate.

However, she has since said she has decided that the vote difference does not merit a recount and as such Senator-elect Mézec will take his seat in the States Chamber.

There was a Senatorial recount in 2014 when Senator Sarah Ferguson narrowly lost out on the final seat to Philip Ozouf. Senator Ferguson was returned last night in seventh place.
