DJ and personal trainer to stand for Deputy in St Peter

Hannah Jacques is the second Islander to announce she will compete to fill the seat to be vacated by Deputy Kristina Moore, who is to stand for Senator.

IT specialist Rowland Huelin declared his intention to stand the week before last.

Miss Jacques, who grew up in the parish, performed internationally as a Ministry of Sound DJ.

She now runs a personal training, fitness and well-being business at Fort Regent – a venue which will feature in her manifesto.

‘I spent my childhood at Fort Regent in its heyday and recently have spent professional years working within the building. There is no other option but to reignite the desperately needed spark that can completely reform the leisure centre, and I am ready to fight from within to find and provide answers for the future,’ she said.

Miss Jacques says she wants to ‘bridge the gap between politics and younger voters’ and represent parishioners of all ages, including those who are struggling to get onto the property ladder.

She added that she also wanted to ‘pump energy back into the Battle of Flowers Association’.
