The Durrells – an ITV series based on the life of the young Gerald Durrell when he and his family spent four years living in Corfu – was a big hit with viewers when it aired last year.

And the second series, which stars Keeley Hawes as Gerald’s mum Louisa Durrell and Milo Parker as a young Gerald, is due to hit TV screens later this year, with Islanders being given a chance to watch the first episode at the Durrell Discovery Centre at Jersey Zoo later this month.

The event, which will start at 6 pm on Wednesday 19 April, will also include a showing of Durrell’s Underhogs – a new documentary about the critically endangered pygmy hogs.

The documentary follows presenter Daniel Craven from Gerald Durrell’s birthplace in India to Assam – home of the pygmy hog.

The screening is free to Jersey Zoo members, with a suggested donation of £10 for non-members.
