The biggest-spending department was the Chief Minister’s, where Senator Ian Gorst and his assistant ministers Senators Paul Routier and Philip Ozouf collectively spent £42,191.

Senator Ozouf, who has responsibility for financial services, digital, competition and innovation, was the biggest-spending minister or assistant minister, with a total bill of £23,673.

The second-highest spending department was External Relations, where Senator Sir Philip Bailhache spent £14,469.

The Chief Minister’s Department issued a statement yesterday saying that as the UK government no longer provides the external representation for the Island, ministers are taking a bigger role on the international stage and therefore submitting more expenses claims.
