The review, which was carried out by Comptroller and Auditor General Karen McConnell, focussed on the extent to which the Education Department has access to high quality information to enable it to make efficient strategic and operational decisions.
Ms McConnell noted that the establishment of a specialist, independent team in 2013 has improved data and statistical analysis for educational services. This team grew last year to three.
Within her report, Ms McConnell also states that ‘steps have been taken to make it easier to access information’ and ‘a culture where data and information are valued is being fostered’.
