Marathon man nears end of 50th birthday challenge

The teacher, who has been running 26.2 miles every day since 17 July in aid of the British Red Cross and Help for Heroes, is due to complete his epic challenge on Sunday 4 September.

Born and raised in Jersey but now living in London, he ran his first 29 marathons along various routes in the UK’s capital before heading to Jersey to continue the challenge.

On Friday he is due to travel to Guernsey before returning to the Island next week for five more marathons and Mr Lewis, who will run his last marathon in London, said that the idea of the 50-day challenge came to him after his friends asked him how he was going to mark his 50th birthday, which he celebrated in December.
