Seven weeks after the UK voted to leave the European Union, Senator Sir Philip Bailhache has said the Island is well positioned to succeed once ties with the 28-state body are severed.
Although it is not part of the UK or the EU, Jersey, as a Crown Dependency, does have a special relationship with the European Union which allows for free-trade, meaning current deals will have to be re-negotiated after Brexit.
Writing on his official States blog, Sir Philip said that the Island was the envy of other developed nations because it is ‘not weighed down by debt, our employment level is reaching record highs, and our economy is diversifying into digital sectors’.
