The latest results of weekly tests introduced in February, when pesticide levels in the Island’s water supply were found to exceed EU regulatory limits, were released on Wednesday by the Environment Department.

Environment Minister Steve Luce said: ‘The department and Jersey Water are continuing to work closely with farmers, in particular to see how we can reduce the likelihood of this year’s problems recurring.’

Oxadixyl, a treatment for potato blight last used in 2003, was discovered to be in water supplies across the Island earlier this year, when Jersey Water changed the UK laboratory it uses for testing water samples. The discovery led to the temporary closure of Val de la Mare Reservoir.
