The Silkworth Charity Group, which provides residential rehab to addicts at its lodge on Vauxhall Street, set up the ‘Family Programme’ using a £70,000 donation from the Lloyds Bank Foundation.
The free initiative, run by the charity from an office in Broad Street, offers an eight-week course designed to help families better understand their loved-ones’ addiction and struggles with chemical dependency.
Since the funding was granted by the foundation in 2015, the scheme has helped around 60 to 70 families either through enrolment on the course, their ‘open-door’ policy at the St Helier office or through a printed, educational booklet.
